saywhatkid asked: We had movers put some of our wood furniture into storage for several months. When we moved the furniture into our new home, we found that the movers had used 2″ clear packing tape to keep drawers from sliding out in transport. When I tried to remove the tape, it either pulled some of the finish off, or left the glue residue. I would like to make the movers lick the tape off, but that option is not available. Anyone have this experience? Any solvents or techniques to salvage my furniture?

WD40 is perfect.
WD 40 it is.
You can use a hair dryer to soften the glue before you take off the tape. And most babyoil on a cotton ball will dissolve tape goo without doing any damage.
If you have such a thing as “Angie’s List “in your area…or on line report those movers! That’s terrible for then to wreck your finish on your furniture. Angies list is a place where people can rate services in their community. As to the tape and tape residue becareful about using any olvents because they might eat up the varnish or the paint. the suggestions from others seem like good ideas. As well as baby oil and WD40 you can also try peanut butter to remove the residue. I don’t know what you’d use to actually get the tape off. the hair dryer used carefully sounds like a good idea.
