We’re selling our house and I was just wondering, what’s the best way to lift the carpet back up a bit where furniture has been sitting for a long period of time?
Thanks!
Use a combination of steam (a warm iron over a damp tea towel whose colour won’t run) and a stiff hairbrush. You are supposed to alternately steam it, then rough up the pile with the brush till its gone.

use a coarse comb on the fibers, but if the backing has dented, maybe a steamer, or time will be the only answer

cheep way, try a small comb or pick and pick at it. then run vacuum over it.
Moisture and Fluffing!
Use a steam iron (don’t touch the iron to the rug, it may melt, just get the steam in there) or a mister/ sprayer.
Vacuum to pull the fibers back upright.
Use the edge of a kitchen spoon to rub the fibers back and forth – switching directions as you go.
Mist, Rub, Vacuum, Mist, Vacuum, Rub — any order.
