I had a drama teacher in high school who once did her hair with white shoe polish. White shoe polish comes off/out faster than light-fast food coloring and slower than acrylic paint. The drying speed of acrylic paint depends on the dryness and porosity of the material to which it is applied and on the air temperature and humidity at the time of application. It'll take longer to dry indoors in San Francisco or Shreveport than in Las Vegas without air conditioning. I see that almost all of the questioners questions are in “Interior Decorating and Design”. It also depends on the number of coats and how big the room is.
