In my district, most of those teachers actually majored in home and consumer science or whatever a particular university calls those classes which were once simply known as home ec. Different states may have different requirements, so see the people where you want to teach to get the low down. You might not actually get the opportunity to teach interior design your very first year, but hang on to it and you'll get there. Good luck! I've never heard of one and worked at one of the biggest school systems (Fairfax County Public Schools in VA). If there is, you definitely need to get a teaching degree. Best of luck!
