Graphic Design is beyond visual communication. Much more than a graphic interface with visual elements… It is a form of sharing thoughts, ideas, and any other kind of information in a suitable way for the masses or a specific public. (a short answer).
…. 2:50, that’s the typical answer from an uninstructed left wing activist….graphic design seen as a tool of a capitalist system. That’s sad, since his kid will grow up listening to stupid things like that from his own dad.

I have been with my girlfriend for over 3 years and she doesn’t even know what I do for a living (Graphic Designer) so I wouldn’t expect a random on the street to know either.

ok in my own words….. Graphic Design- the art of visual things like pictures and words that can be made by hand or computer. For example a stop sign or a youtube logo,a google logo, and even windows vista logos or icons. So you see graphic design is all about visual arts.
P.S. This is what I want to do as a career.

en la parte creativa, si, pero el diseño está hecho para hacer una impresión en la gente…se usa para publicidad, para que la demanda de un producto crezca, y eso, aunque uno tenga una intuición, es más complejo, hay que saber qué es un buen diseño, qué es lo que alguien compraría, que es algo práctico, que es algo sensillo y que todos quieran usar, es buenísimo aprenderlo, y mejor usarlo, si la creatividad es buena, es un complemento entre cada uno y el estudio!
Diseñar es algo complejo la mayoria de la gente no tiene idea de que se trata. Todos quieren serlo porque creen que es algo muy creativo, pero gente, despierten, la creatividad no se enseña, nace con uno.
