i just bought art publisher pro…i am now a designer.
Very smart thinking. This explains why you were successful in the first place and why you were able to sell it. Good job. I just love to hear of efficiency and planning. It is so important. Enjoy your road trip.
From Day One, we knew we’d eventually sell it, thus we documented our operations and procedures through the years.
If as a business has documentation in place, there’s no reason why somebody shouldn’t feel comfortable stepping in.
Also, it depends on how much the buyer is willing to learn, their industry knowledge, and how much the seller wants to train.
The problem with many small businesses is the owners don’t start out thinking they’ll sell, so everything gets written down on post-its.
I’ve looked a buying businesses, started some of my own from ground up too. I never felt comfortable buying another business because for example yours is 10 years established. There is a lot of information about how to run a business that is deep inside of your minds that can’t and won’t due to time be reveled. I just think of some of the businesses I’ve started. There are so many nuances of a business that make it run smooth or successfully. That is what has scared me from buying 1.
Congrats on taking a big plunge. I’ve not forgotten to be back in touch…I probably passed you on the highway somewhere in the last 2 weeks LOL…..
soon…

Thanks for the kudos! But I’m just curious … when did you start working with MarcomAndPOP? We sold out and hit the road last June (2007).
And I’m sorry to say, Mavelin rings a little bell, but I can’t quite recall any DarkSun projects? Perhaps we’ve got too many miles behind us, or I’m just blocking my previous life.
If you’ve been working with the new owner, I’m glad to hear she’s treating you well.
I love Marcom! You guys are great!I am a graphic designer, and yours was one of the first sites I started using to print my stuff. I just love your work, you all rock, and good luck on your adventure. Class act all the way, you’ll go far.
Sold! Almost a year ago … after growing the business for 10 years (see MarcomAndPOP dot com), it was time to let someone else expand and take it to the next level.
We sold the house with the biz, bought a new fifth wheel and hit the road with our three-legged dog Jerry.
You can follow our travels at LiveWorkDream dot com and learn all about cancer in dogs at tripawds dot com … Thanks for asking!
why are you selling?.
HaHa … Not anymore! We made this video as a promo for our sale of the business, shop and home. It was never that clean when we had production going on. Maybe that’s why we were able to sell so quickly!
Thanks for the comment. We are now living and working from the road as full-time RVers. You can follow our adventures at LiveWorkDream dot com.
